Simple, Stylish Food for Easy Entertaining
By Lulu Powers, Laura Holmes Haddad

From Lulu Powers, one of Los Angeles’s premier caterers and event planners, comes a lively, lushly photographed, full-color cookbook featuring 175 recipes and inspired party-planning tips. Lulu Powers Food to Flowers offers simple, stylish food for easy entertaining—invaluable steps to the perfect party or gathering, from a Coffee and Newspaper Party to a Retro Game Night to a Big City Cocktail Party.

My Review
Lulu Powers Food To Flowers  is a party planning "bible", outlining practically everything you need to plan, prepare, and execute parties, events, and celebrations, big and small.  In this book, she covers Party Budgets, Hiring Help, Emergency Snacks, Menus, Lighting, Invitations, Step-by-Step tutorials on what to do in the weeks, days, and hours before the party, and much, much more.  I like her attention to every little detail, breaking things down to make having a party seem so much more manageable.  There are cute ideas for table settings, Party Favors, and Games, as well as dozens of her best, most crowd-pleasing recipes for foods and drinks, most of which can be prepared ahead of time, so you can relax and enjoy your guests.  Some of my favorite recipes in this book are:

Fruit Salad with Herb, Citrus, or Mint-Maple Syrup
Alex's Cinnamon Scones with Cinnamon Clotted Cream
Vegetable Herb Frittata
Chocolate Banana Bread
Escarole and Mesclun Salad with Edamame, Mint, and Pecorino
Nantucket Apple Squares
Mini Wild Mushroom Risotto Cakes

Whether you're planning a child's birthday party, a fancy business dinner, a baby shower, or a simple backyard barbecue, Lulu Powers Food To Flowers can make the whole experience easier, and even more fun!
