I have been a big fan of Nora Jones' for many years.  I love the sultry sound of her voice, and her ability to cover a well-known song and make it her own.  I sometimes like her versions even better than the original artist's.

I like many types of music, and there are several styles featured on this CD, including, country, jazz, hip-hop, and rock.  I can't say I love every single song (I'm not much of a fan of hip-hop or rap), but out of the 18 tracks, there are only a few that I won't be loading on my iPod for "keeps".

My favorite song on the CD is "More Than This", with "Here We Go Again" a very close second.  Song after song, Nora Jones manages to successfully blend her voice with many different artists and music styles.  She is truly a gifted and versatile singer.  (I'll let you in on a little secret - I have a playlist of her songs which are perfect for setting a "romantic" mood.)   I recommend you check out this CD, as well as all of Nora Jones' music, and find out for yourself how talented she is.

I am a Christmas music fanatic, and I like to start listening to it long before the holidays, so when the opportunity to review this CD came along, I happily obliged.  After all, it gave me an excuse to play Christmas music in October!  Winter Songs: A Windham Hill Christmas is a collection of 10 instrumental holiday songs, performed by various artists.  It's the sort of music that would be great for playing in the background at a holiday party.  

I played the CD while I was doing a few things around the house this weekend.   The music was very pleasant, festive, and it got me thinking about how soon it would be time for Christmas shopping, decorating the house, and baking yummy treats.   I especially liked some of the more unique tunes such as "Circle of Joy", "The Dove's Return", and "Salve Regina".   I think this would be great for listening to at the office, as it's soothing, and not distracting.   I'll be loading it on my music player, so I can listen to it while taking a walk around our neighborhood.   In my opinion, Winter Songs: A Windham Hill Christmas is a great CD to add to your holiday music collection.

I recently received a package from My Blog Spark and Pillsbury, with a coupon for a free package of Pillsbury Sweet Moments, a bath puff, and chocolate-scented spa products.  I headed to the store with my coupon, so I could try the product, post my opinion here, and have a giveaway for all of you!   It was difficult  choosing which Sweet Moments to try, as they're all chocolate, and just about anything chocolate sounds good to me.  I finally decided on the Chocolate Caramel Bite-Size Brownies.

My Review

I like trying new food products, especially when I have the opportunity to blog about them and offer a giveaway to my readers!  I've tried a few products from Farm Rich® and SeaPak®, but until recently I had no idea just how many varieties of snacks and seafood they make.  I checked out the Farm Rich® Products list on their website and found French Toast Sticks, Cheese Sticks, Mozzarella Bites, Meatballs, and much more.  SeaPak®'s products list includes Butterfly Shrimp, Shrimp Scampi, Maryland Style Crab Cakes,  Smoky Barbecue Salmon Fillets, and Seasoned Ahi Tuna Steaks, just to name a few.

I headed to the grocery store, and was hoping to find Maryland Style Crab Cakes, but alas, they didn't have them.  I did find SeaPak® Oven Crispy Butterfly Shrimp and Farm Rich® Mozzarella Bites.  When I got home I was on my own for lunch so I decided to treat myself, and popped both in the toaster oven
(I L-O-V-E my toaster oven! but that's another story...)  My lunch was ready in no time, and I was all set to enjoy it!

I was pleasantly surprised at how crispy and tasty the Butterfly Shrimp was.  The shrimp flavor was mild and pleasant, and the texture was perfect.  I dipped it in cocktail sauce and it was even better!  It was hard to believe this crunchy yummy shrimp had come from a frozen package! 

Some of the Mozzarella Bites had some cheese oozing out the sides when I took them out of the oven.  I warmed up some spaghetti sauce for dipping (I think a packet of marinara sauce would be great to include in the package.)  They tasted a bit too plain by themselves, but were better when dipped in the sauce.  All in all, I'd say they were just okay.   All in all, I had a pretty tasty lunch.

My Review

I've never been very knowledgeable about wine.  I know of a few that I like, but as far as which type to serve with a particular dish, I'm pretty clueless.  One of the features I found to be very helpful in The Vineyard Cookbook is the list of suggested wines next to each recipe.  Also, scattered throughout the book are descriptions and a bit of background information for many varieties of wines - Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Reisling, etc.  After reading through the book, I feel as though I've taken a "mini-course" on wines!

I enjoyed reading about wineries from all over the US, and their most popular wines, along with pictures of their locations with some beautiful scenic views.  There are 32 in all, and their wines are the ones that are recommended for serving with the recipes.  I looked up some of the vineyards on the internet, and there were many very reasonably priced wines offered.  No need to buy expensive imports!

The Vineyard Cookbook is divided into seasons, with menus for entire meals and the recipes for each dish.  This would be the perfect cookbook for entertaining, with recipes for each course included, and a list of wines to serve with the meal.  How simple is that?  Here's one example of a spring menu:

Imagine the reaction your guests or your family would have to a meal like this!  The recipes are laid out in detail, with easy to follow instructions, and don't require hard-to-find ingredients or fancy skills to prepare.  My 22 year old daughter looked through the book, and asked to borrow it so she can try some of the recipes.

I eat yogurt pretty much every day, and Greek yogurt is my favorite, because it's much thicker, richer, and smoother in texture than regular yogurt.  I love to eat plain Greek yogurt with fresh fruit, and a drizzle of honey for breakfast. 
The kind folks at Chobani sent me a huge package of their yogurt, with so many flavors that I couldn't wait to dig into!   The first container I opened was the Raspberry Non-Fat (Raspberries are my favorite!).   It was tangy and sweet, thick and rich - not at all what you'd expect from a non-fat yogurt.   My husband is not a big yogurt fan, (in spite of my coaxing) so I ate just about every one of the dozen containers of Chobani myself, although I did share some with one of my daughters when she came over to visit (translation: she came over to be fed! But I don't mind that a bit...).  There was Plain, Blueberry, Honey, Peach, Pomegranate, and more - and they were all yummy!   My favorite was Raspberry (no surprise there), but I truly enjoyed them all.

My Review

Lulu Powers Food To Flowers  is a party planning "bible", outlining practically everything you need to plan, prepare, and execute parties, events, and celebrations, big and small.  In this book, she covers Party Budgets, Hiring Help, Emergency Snacks, Menus, Lighting, Invitations, Step-by-Step tutorials on what to do in the weeks, days, and hours before the party, and much, much more.  I like her attention to every little detail, breaking things down to make having a party seem so much more manageable.  There are cute ideas for table settings, Party Favors, and Games, as well as dozens of her best, most crowd-pleasing recipes for foods and drinks, most of which can be prepared ahead of time, so you can relax and enjoy your guests.  Some of my favorite recipes in this book are:
