Rudi's Organic Bakery began in 1976 as a small local business in Boulder, CO, and is now the leading producer of certified organic bread in the U.S. Their products include breads, buns, rolls, tortillas, wraps, bagels, English muffins and granola, all made without the use of pesticides, artificial ingredients, preservatives, trans fats, or high-fructose corn syrup. Their products are wholesome, taste great, and you can feel good about serving them to your family. I discovered Rudi's 7 Grain Bread with Flax over a year ago at a local health food store, and it has been a favorite at my house ever since (it makes the BEST toast!). I was recently presented with the opportunity to try several other Rudi's products, and to hold a giveaway, so that you all can have a chance to try them too!
When the Rudi's package arrived at my doorstep, it was almost dinnertime, so I quickly located the perfect bread to serve with our spaghetti - Tuscan Roasted Garlic, which is one of Rudi's Artisan breads. I opened the bag to the sweet aroma of garlic, and I knew we were in for a treat. I lightly toasted and buttered a few slices for our dinner, and let me tell you they were delicious! I was looking forward to diving into the rest of the Rudi's delights, and I was not disappointed.
For breakfast one morning we enjoyed Rudi's Cinnamon Raisin Bagels, and what I noticed right away was that these were not the usual overly-large bagels found at the grocery stores. Most packaged bagels we've tried contain 250 to 300 calories, sometimes more. My husband loves raisin cinnamon bagels, but has refrained from eating them very often due to the high caloric count (of course he didn't notice this until I pointed it out to him - sorry, Honey.) One Rudi's Cinnamon Raisin Bagel is the perfect size for breakfast and contains 150 calories - now that's more like it!
Another Artisan bread we sampled was Rosemary Olive Oil. It paired well with our roasted chicken, and made a very nice leftover chicken sandwich the following day. Other Rudi's products we tried were Honey Sweet Wheat Bagels, Whole Grain Wheat English Muffins, Honey Sweet Whole Wheat bread, and Cinnamon Raisin bread (this made yummy french toast). Rudi's breads are moist and flavorful, and we enjoyed them all very much.
If anyone in your family has food allergies or sensitivities , you should know that Rudi's does not use dairy or peanuts in their products, and they also offer a number of spelt products for those with wheat sensitivities. Rudi's bread and the bakery are certified Kosher Parve by Star K kosher certification.
If you are trying to feed your family a healthy diet (and who isn't?), you can feel confident that Rudi's will help you accomplish this goal. I hope you will try some of the many varieties of Rudi's Organic Bakery products, and enjoy them.
