I tried a new recipe for dinner tonight, Macaroni and Cheese from Gourmet magazine's Epicurious website. It was pretty good, but I think it could have used more liquid. The recipe made a very big batch, and called for a pound of elbow macaroni, so I will probably also decrease the amount of macaroni to 3/4 of a pound, so it will be more saucey. Here is the link to the recipe:

I am a Foodie
The dictionary's definition of foodie is, in part "A person who has an ardent or refined interest in food; a gourmet". While I do not consider myself a "gourmet", I do have a great love for, and interest in food. I read about food-related topics in books, magazines, and on the web; I watch numerous cooking shows on TV; I search the web for recipes on a daily basis; I collect cookbooks; I even read culinary fiction. I have noted some of my favorite "foodie" links to the right, but I have hundreds more. I love to bake, especially cookies, biscotti, and muffins. It relaxes me, and is a creative outlet. My mother was a great cook and an amazing pie-baker (alas, I have never been able to match her flaky piecrust!), and when I am baking I sometimes feel a connection to her (she died almost 25 years ago.) I am still figuring out what this blog will be, but one thing I am sure of is that I will be sharing some recipes, and I hope to have readers who will share theirs as well.
